These 5 Tips Will Save You More Money When Shopping Online

Shopping online brings its advantages, but it also has some challenges.

Among all the ones that are there, we are concerned about spending too much when shopping online – compared to when you are at brick-and-mortar stores.

All that ends today.

Try the following to save more money when shopping online.

Tip #1 – Try Multiple Vendors

We know you love that vendor you first found, but they might not be giving you the best prices.

Shop around with different vendors to know which ones offer the best value for money.

Even if you cannot get savings on the item price itself, there might be value-added services (like a free delivery) that save you some money.

Note: make sure all of the vendors that you are shopping with are reliable also. We have seen unscrupulous ecommerce platforms fleece users out of their money and not deliver any items.

Tip #2 – Avoid Price Discrimination

Did you know that the same item can be displayed at different prices to different shoppers?

Known as price discimination, marketers mostly use this technique to make buyers perceived to be more affluent pay more.

You can avoid this is by clearing your cookies or using the incognito mode on your browser to prevent being tracked. You can also use a VPN to connect to different server locations to see if it would be cheaper to order from another country.

Tip #3 – Look for Discounts

Or sales. Or promotions.

These usually come up around the same time as holidays or other special occasions.

So that you can always be in the loop, we recommend creating an account with your preferred eCommerce vendor. That way, you will be the first to know when there is a sale running.

P.S. Make sure to only ever buy the things that you need. It is not uncommon that these discounts be designed to make people buy things that they don’t even need at the moment.

Tip #4 – Combine Coupons Right

Coupons already allow you to save money. Thus, most shoppers are excited about saving any amount at all that they don’t get the full value of their coupons.

If you have multiple coupons, this one’s for you.

Say you have a coupon for 10% off and another one for $20 off, apply the 10% off coupon first before adding the $20 coupon. Otherwise, you would only be saving an additional $2 (and losing $18) if you went the other way around.

Tip #5 – Abandon Cart

Retailers hate this!

They see that you came on their website. They also see that you have picked some items, but you are now dragging your feet to complete the purchase.

So, they step in with coupons, discounts, and other juicy offers to make you check those items out.

They have made a sale – and you have also made some savings at the same time.

Final Words

Apply the five tips above when next you are shopping online. You might not save a million, but you should be able to save enough towards your next cup of coffee, at least.
